The Dept. of Marine Bioscience explores the life phenomena of mysterious and diverse marine life from the molecular level. We study how to contribute to human welfare based on an in-depth understanding of life sciences.
Even though the development of genes and cell manipulation technology, proteomics, and generation control technology has remarkably increased, our understanding of life, life phenomena such as brain function, the aging process, metabolism disease, and cancers are not yet completely understood. In the 21st century, we are expected to get more benefits from life sciences. As a result, the marine life science field has growth potential, so there will be great opportunities for quality jobs for talented people.
We are in the process of discovery and study of the function of new molecules from marine genetic resources without borders or owners. It will contribute to improving human welfare through the expansion of human knowledge, the prevention and treatment of diseases, the development of biomaterials, and environmental purification technology.
Currently, there are 6 full-time professors in genetics biochemistry, molecular biology, molecular endocrinology, seaweed biotechnology, and pharmacy immunology, and we will recruit more professors in the future.
We continuously develop cutting-edge biotechnology programs to fully adapt to changing needs. In addition, students will have opportunities to acquire knowledge and information that will make them succeed in life sciences-related fields after graduation.
